Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dunedin, Florida is seeking a full-time Coordinator of Youth Ministry and Evangelization to lead the parish’s formation of young people in collaboration with the Director of Faith Formation. The CYME must understand the processes of conversion and catechesis and be convinced that the primary aim of Life Teen/Edge Ministry is to bring young people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. A candidate for this position will have firsthand experience of the impact that effective youth ministry has on young people as a place of encounter with Jesus and his Church.

Edge and Life Teen

  • Coordinate and lead weekly meetings (Wednesday, 6-7:30, Sunday, 6-8)
  • Monthly Core Team meetings
  • Coordinate peer ministers
  • Coordinate and attend summer camp trips
  • Plan and run annual Life Teen weekend retreat
  • Coordinate teen volunteers for Sunday Breakfast Café, Lent Fish Fry, and Vacation Bible School

Parish Faith Formation 

  • Assist director of faith formation in Confirmation Prep
  • Occasional assistance with other sacramental prep involving youth

OLL School

  • Plan annual day-retreats for 5th, 6th, and 7th grades; two retreats for 8th grade
  • Collaborate with teachers in the spiritual formation of students

An ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualities

  • Practicing Catholic with a mature faith life and desire to share the faith with young people
  • Strong rapport with youth and adults
  • Excellent communicator – replies to emails and phone calls in a timely manner
  • Capable of organizing and coordinating planning sessions with staff and volunteers
  • Able to delegate tasks and empower others to engage in evangelization and faith formation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Theology degree not required, but a strong candidate will have some training in theology and ministry and possess a willingness to engage in ongoing formation.
  • Must complete the Diocesan Safe Environment Course
  • Must pass the FBI background screening through the Diocese of St. Petersburg
