Reverend Michael J. Arkins, S.S.S.

The Chancellor’s Office received the news of the passing of Reverend Michael J. Arkins, S.S.S., 79, on September 27, 2024 at Hillcrest Hospital after a week-long stay and health complications.  He served in our Diocese as Pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Holiday, from 2009 ~ 2013.

Father Arkins professed religious vows on August 22, 1967 and ordained priest on December 15, 1973.  He had many roles within the order. In service to the Church, he was a Parochial Vicar at Notre Dame de Chicago, Saint Mary Menasha, WI, Saint Camillus Los Angeles, CA, and Saint Charles Borromeo Albuquerque, NM.  He was pastor of Saint Martin de Porres, Taylorsville, UT (1992-1999), Saint Paschal Baylon Highland Heights, OH (1999-2009), Saint Vincent de Paul Holiday, FL (2009-2013), and Saint Eulalia Maywood, IL (2013-2019).  He retired, due to health reasons, and served again at Saint Paschal Baylon as Senior Parochial Vicar in 2019. He moved to Regina Health Center, Richfield, OH this year.

Born July 29, 1945, he was the oldest son of Mary (nee Conway) & James Arkins of Chicago. He is survived by his brother Peter Julian and sister Kathy, brother-in-law Tim Corbett and niece Stacy Lunn Snow (Corbett) and her family.

Funeral Services will be on October 4 and 5, 2024 at St. Paschal Baylon Church, Highland Heights, OH (live streamed at www.church.saintpaschal.com), where Father Mike served as the 7th pastor.   The Rite of Committal at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, OH.
