Mrs. Therese Tylus

Word reached the Chancellor’s Office that Mrs. Therese Tylus, 97, mother of Dr. Lois T. Locey, D.Min., Chancellor for Administration and Chief Operating Officer of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, died peacefully in her sleep in Chicago, Illinois, on Monday, January 20, 2025, surrounded by her daughters.  Mrs. Tylus began her service in the church in eighth grade as a parish organist and cantor, and continued serving into her 80s as part of her parish’s office staff.  She is survived by her four daughters and other extended family members.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, her parents, Joseph and Maria Magdalena, and her eleven siblings.

Funeral arrangements are as follows:
Visitation:
Thursday, January 23, 2025, 3:00-8:00 p.m. Central (4:00-9:00 p.m. Eastern), during which a Vigil Service will be held at Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, Westchester, Illinois.

Funeral Mass:
Friday, January 24, 2025, 11:30 a.m., Central (12:30 p.m. Eastern), at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, La Grange, Illinois.

Mrs. Tylus will be interred at Queen of Heaven/Our Lady of Sorrows Slovak Cemetery within the Archdiocese of Chicago.
