Mr. Herbert G. (Herb) Brown
The Chancellor’s Office received word that Mr. Herbert G. (Herb) Brown, 100, passed away in the Lord on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, while at home. Herb was the husband of Mrs. Diane Brown, founder of Our Lady of Divine Providence House of Prayer©, in Clearwater, as well as the Marian Servants of Divine Providence©.
Mr. Brown, a successful businessman and entrepreneur, was known for turning Checkers Drive-In Restaurants into a profitable enterprise. At the urging of his wife, he purchased a small house in Clearwater, along Tampa Bay, which would become the first House of Prayer in 1980. Faith played a major role in the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Brown, growing only stronger in their later years.
A private funeral service will be held, with a Memorial Mass to be offered at a later date. Once the date has been announced, it will be included here.
