FINDING HOPE THROUGH MERCY

1,000,000 Acts of Mercy Challenge
The experience of mercy, whether we are the ones giving it or the ones receiving it, leads to joy. This is because mercy opens our hearts to the hope of new life. As scripture reminds us, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3). Therefore, in this Year of Hope, we ask God not only for hope for ourselves, but also for the grace to become instruments of His hope for others.
As part of the celebrations around the Jubilee Year, through both the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, we will make God’s mercy manifest in our communities. We will be tangible signs of hope for our brothers and sisters who experience hardships. The works of mercy are tangible and measurable; no act is too large or too small, especially when done with great love. Empowered by the message of the Gospel, we invite our community to take on the challenge of completing 1,000,000 works of mercy in our diocese. Join us in the challenge!
“Christ has no body on earth but ours, no hands, but ours, no feet, but ours…Ours are the feet with which He goes about doing good. Ours are the hands with which He blesses His people.”
– St. Teresa of Avila

24 Hours for the Lord
Reconciliation and Adoration
Pope Francis has chosen the motto “You are my hope” (Ps. 71:5) for the twelfth edition of “24 Hours for the Lord” continuing the theme of hope in this year of Jubilee of 2025. The focus of the event is to put the Sacrament of Reconciliation back at the center of the pastoral life of the Church. The Confessional Door is the Holy Door for the Jubilee Year. During the month of March in the Lenten Season, our parishes and schools will participate in a diocesan-wide campaign centered on “24 Hours for the Lord”. During this time, parishes will offer an opportunity to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Christ in the City
Diocesan Mission Event with Christ in the City
With your support, the Diocese is partnering with Christ in the City, a homeless ministry, to draw near to people on the fringes and walk with our friends on the street toward solutions that actually work. As one participant put it, “The missionaries believed in me when I couldn’t believe in myself, that changed everything for me.” From May 18 – June 8, 2025 join us on the streets of Tampa.
