General Description: The Event Maintenance support is responsible for providing high quality service to our guests. Maintenance and Set Up cleans, brushes, sweeps, vacuums, and mops, areas such as meeting room’s hallways, stairways, common areas and rest rooms in public, and staff spaces in the interior of the Higgins Hall building, Church and other buildings as needed.  Will prepare rooms, buildings and systems for guest occupation, do room setups and other preparations for guest arrival and will perform building maintenance and janitorial duties. This position reports to the Events Manager and is part-time, non-exempt hourly position with no benefits. Experience in an event venue and maintenance or a janitorial background is preferred.

     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Will set up tables, chairs and other furnishings to prepare meeting and residential spaces for guest’s usage.
  2. Provide high quality service and hospitality to our guests at all times
  3. Keen attention to providing customers with an exceptional venue experience before and during their event.
  4. Performs janitorial functions such as cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, moping, plunging, restocking, and dusting of furnishings, fixtures, and other interior spaces and its contents.  Also cleans the exterior event space of buildings including but not limited to porches, railings, doors and furniture.
  5. Janitorial functions are performed in both low and high areas. These functions require contact with a variety of surface materials.  
  6. Uses appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions for all tasks.
  7. Removes and properly disposes of discarded materials and trash, from the kitchen, public gathering areas, office area and general meeting spaces.
  8. Will notify Event Manage or Maintenance staff of additional repairs or maintenance needed in the event spaces.
  9. Will at times use floor cleaners and upholstery cleaners.
  10.  Other related duties may also be assigned.
  11.  Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established including, but not limited to, those contained in the personnel policy handbook.

 QUALITIES AND SKILLS

  1. Must be able to demonstrate experience directly related to cleaning and or facilities maintenance. 
  2. Must be service and customer satisfaction oriented.
  3. Good mechanical aptitude or a willingness to learn.
  4. Able to work from a ladder, lift or push 50 lbs. or heavily loaded carts 
  5. Must have knowledge of cleaning products and how and when to use them.
  6. Must be able to work cooperatively with other staff members, and event catering staff        
  7. Must be comfortable with equipment: set up and use, troubleshooting issues.
  8. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  9. Must successfully pass a level II (FBI) criminal history background check and attend Safe Environment Training before employment.
