Diocese of Saint Petersburg to Donate $300,000 to Hurricane Victims

The Diocese of Saint Petersburg Disaster Relief Fund will provide a generous donation to help local residents struggling to recover from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. A check for $300,000 will be presented to Catholic Charities to provide aid to those who have been impacted by the two hurricanes that hit our area just a few months ago.

Speakers include Bishop Gregory Parkes, Maggie Rogers, Executive Director of Catholic Charities, and people who have received assistance due to hurricane damage.

“We are called to share the love of Christ with those who are suffering. This donation will provide support to our neighbors in need via Catholic Charities. We will let them know they are not alone,” said Bishop Gregory Parkes who leads the Diocese of Saint Petersburg.

The funds will be earmarked for assistance that includes:

  • Rental assistance because of lost wages due to the hurricanes. Many hourly workers have lost income due to the recent storms.
  • New beds and cribs so adults and children don’t have to sleep on the floor.
  • Reimbursements for repair expenses that aren’t covered by insurance or FEMA.
