Deacon Stephen F. Sablone

The Diaconate Office received word that Deacon Stephen F. Sablone, 79, a retired deacon of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, passed away in the Lord in Monday, September 23, 2024, while under Hospice care in Myerstown, Pennsylvania.

Deacon Sablone was ordained to the Diaconate for the Diocese of St. Petersburg on June 28, 1997 and served at St. Scholastica Parish, Lecanto until moving to central Florida in 2013, and later, to Pennsylvania, where he experienced a steady decline in health, due to the effects of Parkinson’s Disease. He is survived by his wife, Joan Lincoln Sablone, his son, John Sablone (Sue), his sisters, Dorothy Olczak and Betty LaMarche, four step-children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, October 11, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at St. Scholastica Catholic Church, 4301 W. Homosassa Trail, Lecanto.  Burial will follow at Fero Memorial Gardens, Beverly Hills.
