Bishop Gregory Parkes Invites You to the Opening Mass for the “Synod on Synodality”
Bishop Gregory Parkes will celebrate an opening Mass for the local phase of a worldwide consultation process in the Catholic Church known as the “Synod on Synodality.” The Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle at 11:30 a.m. All are invited to the celebration. Representatives from across the Diocese’s five counties will be in attendance. Annual Red Mass
Christ the King Catholic Church (821 S. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa)
Tuesday, October 19, at 5:30 p.m.
The Tampa Bay Catholic Lawyers Guild invites you to the Annual Red Mass. The Mass will be celebrated by the Most Reverend Gregory L. Parkes, Bishop of the Diocese of St. Petersburg and it will be live streamed at the parish’s site: https://ctk-tampa.org/news/livespecial/.
Attendees are requested to wear masks during Mass and are required to wear masks at the reception. The Mass and reception will take place with the appropriate social distancing and following the applicable health and safety guidelines.

Healing Prayer Theory and Practice
October 11 – 15, 2021, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This course is designed for individuals who desire both a theoretical knowledge of healing of memories and practical workshop on how to pray for themselves and others. Christian Understanding of the Human Person
October 18 – 22, 2021, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This course provides a much needed examination of the theology, spirituality, and modern sciences’ view of the person. Presented by Therese Cirner, LPC, NCC is a Licensed Professional Counselor providing counseling services in Ann Arbor, Michigan, specializing in trauma recovery and life transitions. The cost to attend is $95.00 and is offered on-line with live streaming.

Pets to be Blessed at Franciscan Center
Pets of all kinds and their owners are invited to the Franciscan Center on Friday, October 1st for the annual “Blessing of the Animals” event. Furry, finned and feathered friends—or even stuffed animals—are all welcome to this outside blessing which will take place on the grounds of the Franciscan Center, 3010 North Perry Avenue, Tampa. The event is from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with the blessings from the Friars at Sacred Heart Church, to start at 6:00 pm.
This year visitors will also be treated to the sounds of local acoustic music artist Ray Gurka, who will be performing at the Center’s riverfront pavilion starting at 5:00 pm. Guests are invited to bring a picnic and chairs along with their well-behaved animals.
