Civil Dialogue
The Office of Life, Justice, and Advocacy has scheduled civil dialogues on racism as part of a larger initiative supporting the U.S. Bishops’ Ad Hoc Committee Against Racism and their upcoming pastoral letter. A civil dialogue is a moderated discussion that involves sharing personal experiences and Catholic Social Teachings.
Dialogues are taking place at the Franciscan Center, St. Paul Parish, St. Petersburg; Nativity Parish, and St. Patrick Parish, Tampa. Registration is required: www.dosp.org/life/upcoming-events

Mass of the Angels
The annual Mass of the Angels for children (born or unborn) who have gone to be with the Lord. will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at 11:00 AM in the St. James Chapel at Bethany Center (18150 Bethany Center Drive, Lutz). Families are invited to bring a picture of their lost child/ren to be displayed at the reception following Mass. CRS Rice Bowl Mini Grants
The Office of Life, Justice and Advocacy is currently accepting applications for CRS Rice Bowl Mini Grants that fund hunger and poverty alleviation efforts in the Diocese. Ministries from parishes, schools, and other diocesan entities can apply for up to $1,000 to assist with programming and advocacy efforts to eradicate hunger. Twenty-five percent of annual Diocesan CRS Rice Bowl collections are retained and have been made available for this grant program. Applications are due October 22, 2018.

Diocesan Hispanic Mass
Bishop Gregory Parkes invites you to the Diocesan Hispanic Mass. This year it will be In Honor of Our Lady Of The Rosary of Chiquinquirá, Patroness of Colombia. The Mass will be on October 13, 2018 at 10 AM at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle.

The Mass will be celebrated by the Most Reverend Gregory L. Parkes, Bishop of the Diocese of St. Petersburg. Deacon Edward LaRose, Chief Judge of the Second District Court of Appeal, will give the homily. Attorneys will have an opportunity to renew their Oath of Office at the Mass. Please join us!
St. Pio Relics to Visit the Diocese of St. Petersburg

The tour of the relics of St. Pio, a modern-day saint who is beloved around the world, will be at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle for one day, Friday, November 2, All Souls’ Day. Six relics of the saint have been brought from Italy to the United States for the first time. All are invited to come and venerate the official relics of St. Pio of Pietrelcina and to participate in the celebration of Mass with Bishop Gregory Parkes at the Cathedral of Saint Jude the Apostle, 5815 5th Ave N, St. Petersburg. Public Veneration will be from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM and Mass with Bishop Gregory Parkes will be at 6:30 PM. For information about the public veneration, please call (727) 347-9702.

50th ANNIVERSARY YOUTH VIDEO CONTEST SPONSORED BY SHALOM WORLD
Contest deadline extended to October 1! The Diocese of St. Petersburg celebrates its 50th Anniversary during 2018. Teens have an opportunity to learn about the history of their local Church through a video contest that answers the question: “Why I love the Church.” The best videos will be featured on the diocesan website and played at the Family Faith Fest on October 27, 2018. Recognize Your Loved Ones during Mental Illness Awareness Week

The SVdP CARES Community Thrift Store is in need of volunteers!
The store at 180 34th Street N. in St. Petersburg is in need of volunteers to help with processing donations on Mondays and Tuesdays, hanging clothes, sorting donations and a few able bodied people to assist with pick ups and deliveries!
