The Diocese of St. Petersburg is open and transparent in communicating with the public about sexual abuse of minors by clergy within the confines of respect for the privacy and the reputation of the individuals involved. This is especially so with regard to informing parishes and other diocesan entities directly affected by sexual abuse of a minor.
We publish the names of diocesan priests and laypersons who have admitted to or have been determined to have committed sexual abuse of a minor or minors while serving in ministry.
In March of 2020, the Catholic Bishop Abuse Reporting Service (CBAR) was established. This is a confidential channel for reporting sexual misconduct of a U.S. bishop. CBAR is operated by Convercent, Inc. an independent, third-party entity that provides intake services to private institutions for reports of sensitive topics such as sexual harassment through a secure, confidential, and professional platform.
