Homosassa
St. Thomas the Apostle in Homosassa has an opening for a part-time maintenance position, up to 20 hours per week. The right candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all parish facilities and grounds (church, office, rectory). Specific responsibilities include:
- On days worked, open church at 7:00 a.m.
- Survey properties daily; document any issues; address in order of severity, report to business manager
- Perform plumbing, electric, carpentry, painting tasks
- Diagnose issues and resolve if minor or enlist professional services as needed; confer with business manager when professional services are warranted
- Assist with setup and breakdown of events
- Power-wash windows, exterior buildings, and sidewalks, clean areas of carpet as needed
- Maintain sprinkler system
- Test ground water and pump system twice weekly along with corresponding logbook
- Maintain list of contractors used for emergency calls i.e. plumber, electrician
- Maintain supplies for non-liturgical items, maintenance, and cleaning; submit list of needed items to office
- Be prepared to help cleaning of church, office, and/or rectory as needed, especially for accidents
- Be on call for emergencies that arise after hours, be included as a point-of-contact for the security system.
- Partner with staff members to provide coverage for other duties as needed, i.e. sacristan duties
- Other misc. items as they arise
- Directly communicate with business manager on all maintenance issues, meet with business manager weekly at a minimum.
- Perform preventive maintenance on a regular basis on areas identified for that maintenance
- Always maintain a friendly attitude toward parishioners and staff. Live a Catholic lifestyle, and always follow rules in employee handbook
Must successfully pass a level II (FBI) criminal history background check and attend Safe Environment Training before employment.
