PURPOSE OF THE POSITION AND MINISTRY

We, the Catholic Diocese of Saint Petersburg, are a joyful community of disciples proclaiming the Good News and inviting all people to encounter the love and mercy of Jesus Christ. The purpose of all Pastoral Center ministries and services within in the Diocese of Saint Petersburg is to foster effective evangelization, collaboration, and communication among the priests, deacons, religious, lay ecclesial ministers and lay faithful; inspire the collective gifts and talents of the local Church to proclaim the Gospel in word and deed; and share, under the guidance of the Bishop, the love of our Lord Jesus Christ with joy to others. The Pastoral Center staff courageously lives the Gospel and reflects a commitment to the Church’s overall priorities to place God first in all things, to love as God loves & to serve as Christ serves, and to go and make disciples.

The Digital Services Manager, under the direct supervision of the Director of Ministry Advancement, promotes the works of the ministries of the Church in the Diocese of Saint Petersburg with all parishes, schools, and their people, and support the pastoral priorities of its Bishop through an integrated approach to diocesan marketing and ministry advancement. The Coordinator fulfills this commitment based on the following duties and responsibilities.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Under direction of the Director of Ministry Advancement, Incumbent develops and manages digital communications plan, implements consistent and continual reinforcement of the brand throughout all platforms and modes utilized by the Pastoral Center and diocesan entities to implement the Pastoral Plan and priorities of the Bishop.

• Collaborating with the Director of Ministry Advancement, Incumbent coordinates content for all front facing internal digital media assets of the Diocese, including, but not limited to, diocesan website, livestream services and social media platforms. Uses these outlets to consistently advance work of the ministries of the Diocese and the priorities of the Bishop.

• Incumbent develops, edits and maintains visual assets including video, photographs, podcasts, graphics, images and adaptations of printed designs for digital use. Incumbent assists parishes and schools, as necessary, in managing shared and legal digital assets.

• In coordination with the Director of Ministry Advancement, Incumbent provides consultation and guidance to ministries, parishes, schools and entities in planning and creating new digital, web and social media content and enhancing communications.

• Incumbent develops web and new media initiatives as needed to meet the changing technologies and communications needs of the Diocese.

Incumbent serves as an in-house digital graphic design expert for diocesan ministries and departments, assisting in the development of integrated marketing and communications programs for diocesan ministries and events.

• Incumbent assists the Director of Ministry Advancement in developing and creating print, digital and video materials as needed to support departments as they invite others to participate actively in the Church.

• Incumbent maintains the video studios entrusted to the pastoral center’s care throughout the diocese, including tracking all equipment and assuring equipment is in good working order. Provides input to the need for upgrades and provides proposals of needed equipment and digital services to diocesan administration.

• Incumbent serves on diocesan committees as needed to help capture the communications plan for promoting and advancing ministry and ministry efforts.

• Incumbent collaborates with other offices, programs and entities within the Diocese on projects, as assigned.

STRATEGIC DIRECTION

• The Ministry Advancement Office serves as an in-house marketing and communications expert for diocesan ministry departments while prioritizing materials needed to secure funding for the operations of the Pastoral Center ministries.

• Identifies opportunities to develop integrated marketing and communications programs for diocesan ministries and events and provides strategic insight and direction.

• Regularly interacts with ministry leaders, maintains trust and confidentiality, and provides counsel and strategy on key messaging.

• Understands the pastoral priorities of the Bishop and coordinates the overall branding, marketing, and communications objectives to support his ministerial objectives.

• Performs these duties according to the mission and values of the Catholic Church and the policies and procedures outlined in the diocesan employee handbook.

COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Director of Ministry Advancement. The position also requires a close collaborative relationship with the Executive Director of Mission Advancement, other directors and managers of the Pastoral Center, pastors, principals and business managers of diocesan entities, and the administrators of other diocesan entities and programs.

QUALITIES AND SKILLS

• Must be supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church. Experience in a Roman Catholic environment is a plus. Must be a Catholic in good standing.

• Handle highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.

• Exhibits good judgement, is highly motivated and self-directed.

 Work outside typical business hours, as needed, to manage social media and digital media platforms, cover events and respond as needed to time sensitive situations.

• Technical Skills Helpful: Knowledge of and experience with WordPress, major social media platforms, photography, videography, livestreaming, YouTube, Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Canva, Boxcast, Flocknote, Buffer.

• Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or a related field preferred.

• Good oral and written English-language communication skills is a must, including a clear speaking voice. Spanish competency encouraged.

• Skilled in cultivating and building relationships.

• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPress, social media platforms, and logistics planning is required.

• Good spelling and grammar required.

• Excellent customer service skills required.

• Good time management skills including ability to manage several projects at the same time is required.

• Must have professional demeanor.

Candidate must successfully pass a Level II FBI Background Screening and complete Safe Environment Training before employment.
