St. Paul’s Parish at St. Petersburg is looking for a 6:00 PM Sunday Mass Contemporary Music Director – Part Time

We are searching for a musician to lead our contemporary music ensemble at our 6:00 pm Sunday evening Masses.

Candidate must be proficient at piano or guitar and be able to read music.
Able to provide direction to other singers and instrumentalists.
Lead rehearsal on a regular basis with the singers and instrumentalists of the ensemble (historically, this has been done weekly one hour before the Mass begins).
Plan music that engages the congregation and is appropriate for the liturgy of the day.
Is familiar with contemporary Christian/Catholic music and able to arrange older hymns in a contemporary style when needed.
Must be familiar with the Catholic liturgy and striving to live a life in conformity with Catholic values.
Must be organized and possess strong communication skills.
Will need to prepare a weekly lyric sheet each week for the congregation to use at Mass.
Must be familiar with sound systems and musical equipment or willing to learn.
Will need to be available for extra Christmas and Easter Masses as well as youth events such as retreats and special nights of prayer.
Will be relied upon to retain current ensemble members and to recruit and develop new members for the ensemble and work with those who express a desire to join.

Candidate must successfully pass a Level II FBI Background Screening and complete Safe Environment Training before hiring.
