Miss Patricia A. Vigue
The Chancellor’s Office was informed of the passing of Miss Patricia A. Vigue, on March 20, 2024. In 2001, Pat prepared a sample obituary for herself. Much of the obituary below was penned by her own hand and heart.
Patricia Vigue, long known as Miss Pat to her students and colleagues, passed away on March 20, 2024, with Ava Maria playing in the background and a niece by her side. Born in Hartford, CT on December 24, 1950, her family moved to St. Petersburg in November of 1953.
Pat attended St. Paul Catholic School and she graduated from SPJC in 1970. She earned a B.A. in English Education from USF in 1972. Later, she completed a Master of Religious Education at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. Pat served as a Catholic school teacher for nearly three decades, serving at St. Paul, St. Jude the Apostle, St. John, St. Justin Martyr, and St. Petersburg Catholic High School. She also taught at the Goretti School in Lake Arthur, LA and Academy of Holy Names High School in Tampa. She served as the Director of Religious Education at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice Florida and was a member of the National Catholic Education Association.
Throughout her life, she joined her parents and many family members as a faithful and active member of St. Paul Catholic Church, St. Petersburg. She was a member of Amnesty International, the Southern Poverty Law Center, Partners with Haiti, and other social justice and peace organizations.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eudora (Plourde) Vigue, her father Adrian Vigue and her eldest brother, Michael Vigue. She is survived by her brother, James C. Vigue of Largo, Florida, seven nephews and nieces as well as nine great nieces and nephews.
Pat’s funeral will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on Friday April 5th at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Pat requested friends and family contribute to the St. Paul Catholic School Sustaining Fund.
