The Chancellor’s Office sadly announces the passing of Reverend Joseph M. Vanderholt, S.J., 85 years old, who has been serving at Jesuit High School since January of 2021, on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in an acute care facility in Land O’Lakes.

Born in Texas in 1937, Fr. Vanderholt entered the Society of Jesus in 1955 and was ordained in 1968. He has served as a chaplain at Jesuit since his arrival in January, 2021. He was generous in offering the sacraments to our school community, and especially in his availability to the students for daily confession.

Funeral Services for Father Vanderholt are as follow:
May 9, 2023, Wake from 1:00 – 6:00 PM followed by his Funeral Mass at 6:00 PM at the Chapel of the Holy Cross, Jesuit High School, 4701 N Himes Ave., Tampa, 33614. Burial at a later date to be determined, in Grand Coteau, Louisiana.
