Media Center Transformation is Underway at St. Petersburg Catholic High School
St. Petersburg Catholic High School has officially begun construction on a beautiful new Learning Commons that will open in Fall 2020.
The space will include a writing studio, a chapel, an innovation studio, and several collaborative workspaces and presentation areas. The goal of this project is to create a central hub on campus where students can gather together to study, present, and pray. “It’s great to see how much the school is doing to support the students,” said Ange Bontemps, a rising junior at St. Petersburg Catholic.
Construction for the Learning Commons was made possible by a $500,000 matching gift from Bishop Gregory Parkes, two successful fundraising initiatives at the 2019 and 2020 Annual Baron Gala, and several leadership gifts from generous alumni and school parents. This project is one of many that will complete an ambitious campus master plan for the school.
A small, socially distanced ceremony took place on June 11th to celebrate the beginning of construction. Ross Bubolz, Principal of St. Petersburg Catholic, shared his gratitude for all of those who made the project possible.
“Thank you for your shared vision and commitment in creating a space that truly represents 21st-century learning, meeting the unique and diverse needs of today’s learners,” expressed Bubolz. A dedication will be held upon the project’s completion.
