FAQ Tuition Assistance

Here are some of the most common questions that we are asked by our families that are interested in tuition assistance for their children. If you are still unable to get an appropriate answer for your question, please feel free to email Debbie Moore at dmm@dosp.org.

  1. How do I apply for tuition assistance? Please see our Tuition Aid section of our website.
  2. When do I need to apply on FACTS for the following school year? Typically, FACTS opens in November of the current school year. Applications must be submitted by March 31st, before the end of the current school year, for consideration for the following year.
  3. When is the last day to apply for tuition assistance through FACTS? All applications must be submitted and completed in FACTS by no later than March 31st.
  4. How much will I be awarded if I am approved for a grant? Students will be awarded 17% of their schools tuition per year per student.
  5. Am I able to appeal a denial for tuition assistance? (Link back to “how to appeal a denial”) Please see our Diocesan Assistance page.
  6. When is the last day I am able to send in my appeal by? All appeals must be submitted by no later than June 1st.
  7. Does the Diocese off any other grants besides the Catholic School Tuition Aid Grant? The only grant that is offered is the CSTAG award for Catholic students attending a school within the St. Petersburg Diocese.  See info here.
  8. Does the Diocese offer any grants or scholarships for graduating students from our Diocese who will be attending a Catholic college? Unfortunately, the Diocese DOES NOT offer any assistance for graduates that will be attending any college. Grants are only available from the Diocese for students currently attending one of our schools.
  9. Who must I contact regarding tuition assistance awarded to me by the school? Please contact the school directly with any questions or concerns regarding tuition assistance granted to you by your school. (i.e. payment, qualifications etc…)
  10. Can Step Up for Students be combined with a Diocesan CSTAG award? Not at the Elementary level(exceptions are Morning Star Schools).
