Flexible Spending Accounts for Health and Dependent Care

There are two types of Flexible Spending Accounts. Both allow you to put aside pre-tax income to reimburse yourself for eligible expenses.

Flexible Spending Account for Health Care Expenses
Allows employees to pay for out of pocket expenses not covered by the benefit plans (co-pays, deductibles, coinsurance, etc.) with pre-tax dollars.  The employee may determine how much money, if any they want to set aside.

  • $1,000.00 per year maximum annual contribution
  • Minimum deposit $100 per year
  • Only eligible to participate at annual open enrollment or when first eligible
  • Employees may begin to use funds as of January 1, 2015 and will not be required to wait for funds to be accumulated.
  • There is no debit card option with our FSA Health benefit program.
  • Employees may now roll over up to $500.00 that was not reimbursed in the previous calendar year.  Anything over $500.00 is forfeited.

Flexible Spending Account for Dependent Care Expenses
Allows the employee to pay for dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars.  The employee may determine how much money, if any they want to set aside.

  • $5,000 maximum annual contribution (IRS)
  • Minimum deposit $100 per year
  • Funds may only be used for daycare expenses for children 13 and under.
  • Only eligible to participate at annual enrollment or when first eligible
  • Employees may only receive reimbursement for funds that have accumulated.
