SUMMARY: The Assistant Manager provides back-up support to the Manager of the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store which provides clothing, household goods and furniture to needy individuals and families of the District Council’s 11 Conferences and, with proceeds from the sales of the remaining merchandise it receives through donations from the public, it defrays operating expenses and helps fund other programs of the District Council.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all aspects of the Thrift Store operations in the absence of the Manager
  • Help train employees and volunteers, assigning responsibilities to the latter
  • Oversee the intake of donated merchandise and see that it is sorted, priced and placed on the sales floor in a timely manner
  • Help price large-ticket items such as furniture and antiques
  • Assist customers and clients with vouchers, maintaining all pertinent data for reporting purposes
  • Schedule pick-ups and deliveries with customers, completing appropriate forms
  • Help enforce all store policies as outlined in the store’s “Ten Commandments of Service” posted at the checkout counter
  • Supervise the overall neatness and appearance of the sales floor and assist cashier when needed
  • Complies with all applicable training requirements
  • Complies with all company safety, personnel and operational policies and procedures
  • Complies with work schedule to ensure effective operations of Agency programs
  • Contributes positively as a member of a productive and cooperative team
